NTL Pace STB and timer recording with DVD recorder

Has anyone successfully managed to make their Pace NTL STB control their DVD
recorder using the NTL EPG?

My Panasonic DMR-EH50 can, apparently, be told to start recording by some
digiboxes via SCART signalling. Not managed to achieve this so far.

Any ideas gratefully received.

I'm pretty sure the Pace doesn't support SCART signalling.
Pace STBs can be controlled by some DVD recorders, e.g. Tosh XS32/34 and Philips 725, the latter has
the GuidePlus EPG

I was interested in the Philips but put off by some reviews that said the
recorded brighhtness was noticeably lower than the source. It would have
been a nice match for my Philips TV as well, but the Panasonic has really
outstanding picture quality on recordings - I think even in LP mode it's
hard to tell the difference.

But having to set the recorder's timer and the STB at the same time is a bit
of a bummer when the technology is there for the two units to control each
other with a degree of smartness.
